Seven Signs of Serious Ear Disease - In the hearing instrument
dispensing field, the medial concerns regarding ear pathologies are often over looked.
We will review the serious signs of ear disease and the necessity for physician referral.
The goal of this presentation is to establish the patient’s health and well-being as the
primary concern. A basic test battery is recommended and an explanation will be given for
how the test will contribute to the process.
Be Informed: Today’s Issues affecting the Hearing Healthcare Professional -
The Standard of Care is constantly evolving and one cannot insure proper patient care unless
they are aware of the latest issues affecting hearing healthcare. Earmold Impression protocol
and ototoxicity are important to an effective hearing healthcare practice. Awareness of
ototoxicity issues is becoming increasingly important to today’s hearing healthcare providers
and our clients. We will not only discuss the importance of such issues and protocols but will
also provide resources and tools to participants for more in-depth guidelines and protocols.
Digital Hearing Aid Features and Functions - We will be exploring various
hearing aid features and their functions. With today’s automatic nature of hearing aid
fitting it is easy to lose sight as to the reasons we select particular features and adjust
their functions while performing a hearing aid fitting. The discussion will include
amplification features ranging from layered noise reduction to feedback cancellation
strategies. Emphasis will be placed on incorporating the advanced digital features and
functions into optimal hearing aid fittings. Two hearing aid cases will be reviewed from
beginning Audiogram, Selection, Fitting, Counseling through to final Fine Tuning. Our
final goal is to increase patient satisfaction by understanding technology.
